"Think outside the lock"
|
A crash bar is also known as a push bar, panic bar, panic device, or an exit
device. The idea behind the terms “crash bar” and “panic bar” is that in an emergency or in a panic
situation, one can “crash” or “run into” the crash bar and as a result, the door
will open. |
|
How does it work? A metal bar is installed horizontally on the door. The crash
bar mechanism unlatches the door when one pushes the metal bar. In many
countries, it is required to have crash or panic bars on any emergency and fire
exits. |
